Safety solutions for traffic: Review 2025 and outlook 2026

Move & Traffic Controls Managing Director Volker Trapp in his office

A personal interview with Volker Trapp

Mr. Trapp, looking back on 2025: What was the defining theme for you?

2025 was clearly a year of strong partnerships for us.

We have consciously invested in existing customer relationships – not in the abstract, but very concretely. For example, by actively supporting our customers in reducing costs or by jointly developing solutions for previously unsolved applications, such as with a European bus manufacturer.

At the same time, we focused heavily on customer development . A good example is the close collaboration with a major Chinese automotive manufacturer, whom we supported in the installation and testing of door monitoring systems in buses.

And last but not least, we have also further developed our supplier relationships – with open communication, mutual trust, and deeper integration into our processes. Because for us, efficiency and innovation always come together.

Focus 2026: Development, Security and Cooperation

What are you focusing on in 2026?

For us, 2026 is all about product development, safety and collaborative partnerships .

A key milestone is the completion of our funding project within the Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM) . We are implementing this project jointly with the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau , Faculty of Physical Engineering. We will present the results to the public for the first time at InnoTrans 2026 – something we are very much looking forward to.

Furthermore, we are expanding our collaboration with Sensotek in the areas of marketing and product development.

Another highlight is our participation in Intertraffic 2026 , where security will play a central role.

Products & Innovations: What customers can expect

What specific changes are taking place in your product portfolio?

Here too, we are making significant progress. At TraffiCon , we were able to significantly reduce the diameter of our tactile sensor element. This opens up entirely new design and integration possibilities for bus and train doors.

Our auto²scan system is getting a new graphical interface that noticeably improves user-friendliness .

And with auto²scan colour, we are expanding our product range in such a way that completely new application possibilities arise for our customers – especially where documentation and visual quality are crucial.

Research & Collaboration: It's impossible without partners

What role do collaborations play for MTC?

A very large one. As a small, technology-oriented company, we depend on strong partners .

We work closely with universities, industry partners, and specialized freelancers – always with one clear goal: to provide the greatest possible benefit to our customers . In my view, this openness to collaboration is one of our most important success factors.

Market & Customer Needs: The Trends for 2026

What developments in the market are you observing particularly closely?

Quite clearly: electric vehicles and autonomous driving . These are topics that concern our customers – and therefore us as well. We see our role as contributing our expertise in such a way that our customers can master safely, efficiently, and sustainably

Corporate culture: The team as the key

In conclusion: What significance does the team have for all these goals?

None of this would be possible without our team. Highly qualified and motivated employees are the foundation for innovation and quality. That's why the continuous development of our team our top priority – as are good working conditions and appropriate incentives.

Our goal for 2026 – in one sentence

Together with customers and partners, we aim to bring innovative safety solutions to market maturity and thereby create sustainable added value for the traffic of tomorrow.
