FAQ: “What do EN 50155 and e1 mean for door sensors?”

In the data sheets of the Trafficon series, you will find references such as EN 50155 or type approval e1/E1 . These stand for two different but equally important approvals:

  • EN 50155 describes requirements for electronic equipment in railway vehicles – including temperature range, shock/vibration resistance and EMC stability.
  • e1/E1 refers to the approval according to StVZO/ECE regulations for use in road vehicles.

For transport companies and vehicle manufacturers, this means
proven robustness in the rail environment and regulation-compliant integration into road vehicles.

Good to know
