Bastian Spannekrebs has been part of the Move & Traffic Controls team (MTC team) since November 2017 and leads the development of pioneering systems such as Auto²Scan Color. Find out what drives him and what challenges motivate him in his daily work.
Bastian, you have been working at MTC for over five years. What originally motivated you to switch to the transportation technology and automotive industry?
Right from the start of my career, I was fascinated by the diverse range of tasks in traffic engineering. I still find the connection between technological innovation and the requirements of the automotive industry particularly exciting to this day. The opportunity to work on innovative solutions and help shape the industry motivated me to pursue this path.
What tasks are you currently taking on at MTC?
As project manager for systems, I am responsible for the development of our products such as Auto²Scan Color. My area of activity includes complete project management - from planning to implementation, maintenance and service. I stay in close contact with our customers in order to understand their requirements and translate them into tailor-made solutions.
Is there a project you are particularly proud of?
Yes, there is! I am particularly proud of the development of Auto²Scan Color. This color scanner allows us to check vehicle underbody even more precisely and efficiently. The successful launch of this product was a real milestone as it offers our customers a completely new way of inspection. This project was challenging but also very rewarding as it highlighted MTC's potential in terms of innovation and technological advancement.
What do you particularly like about working at MTC?
What makes MTC special for me are the flat hierarchies and the short decision-making processes. There is a very familiar atmosphere in which everyone can contribute their ideas. This open and dynamic working atmosphere not only promotes personal development, but also the innovative strength of the entire team. I appreciate the mutual support and the team spirit that exists here.
How do you relax in your free time?
In my free time I like to be outside in nature. I find the peace and quiet I need when hiking or cycling and can clear my head. Exercising in the fresh air gives me energy and helps me keep a clear view of upcoming challenges.
How do you see the future of MTC?
I am confident that MTC will continue on the successful path of recent years. Our team is strong and innovative, and I hope we continue to move forward with creative solutions. There are still many exciting developments, especially in the area of traffic technology, that I am looking forward to. My wish is that we can continue to maintain our position as an innovation leader in the future.
