In conversation with Bastian Spannekrebs: Development of the Auto²Scan Color for precise vehicle underbody inspections

Bastian Spannekrebs - Project Manager at Move & Traffic Controls

Since November 2017, Bastian Spannekrebs has been part of the Move & Traffic Controls team (MTC team) and leads the development of pioneering systems such as Auto²Scan Color. Learn what drives him and what challenges motivate him in his daily work.

Bastian, you have been with MTC for over five years. What initially motivated you to switch to the traffic engineering and automotive industry?

From the very beginning of my career, I was fascinated by the diverse range of tasks in traffic engineering. I still find the combination of technological innovation and the demands of the automotive industry particularly exciting. The opportunity to work on innovative solutions and help shape the industry is what motivated me to pursue this path.

What tasks do you currently perform at MTC?

As a systems project manager, I am responsible for the development of our products, such as Auto²Scan Color. My responsibilities encompass complete project management – from planning to implementation, maintenance, and service. I maintain close contact with our customers to understand their requirements and translate them into customized solutions.

Is there a project you are particularly proud of?

Yes, it exists! I'm particularly proud of the development of Auto²Scan Color. This color scanner allows us to inspect vehicle underbodies even more precisely and efficiently. The successful market launch of this product was a real milestone, as it offers our customers a completely new way of inspection. This project was challenging, but also very rewarding, as it clearly demonstrated MTC's potential in terms of innovation and technological advancement.

What do you particularly appreciate about working at MTC?

What makes MTC special for me are the flat hierarchies and short decision-making processes. There's a very friendly atmosphere where everyone can contribute their ideas. This open and dynamic work environment not only fosters personal development but also the innovative strength of the entire team. I appreciate the mutual support and the strong team spirit that's so prevalent here.

How do you relax in your free time?

In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors in nature. Hiking or cycling provides me with the necessary peace and quiet, allowing me to clear my head. The exercise in the fresh air gives me energy and helps me maintain a clear perspective on upcoming challenges.

What is your vision for the future of MTC?

I am confident that MTC will continue the successful path of recent years. Our team is strong and innovative, and I hope that we will continue to move forward with creative solutions. There are still many exciting developments, especially in the field of traffic technology, that I look forward to. My wish is that we can maintain our position as an innovation leader in the future.
